Michael Kors New York Apartment
It's always interesting to see how fashion designers decorate their homes and it is surprising sometimes to see that some go for a look that is quite the opposite to what is reflected in their fashion collections.... Take for instance, New York fashion designer, Michael Kors, the quintessential, sophisticated city man: You might expect his apartment to be decorated with layers of pattern, colour and textures, with the odd animal print thrown into the mix - but, surprisingly, his brief for his new penthouse pad was for a simple colour palette of white walls, black leather, stainless steel and polished chrome, a living space devoid of clutter. Perhaps he chose this minimalist, sleek scheme as a refuge from the frantic world of fashion, a space in which to clear and refresh his mind before stepping back into the fray...
Speaking about his apartment in the West Village which he shares with his partner Lance Le Pere, he explained "We wanted to be surrounded by elements of sleek, classic interiors by George Nelson, Mies Van der Rohe and Knoll". The penthouse reflects his love of iconic 20th century design and key pieces in his highly edited collection include Mies Van der Rohe's Barcelona Daybed, Barcelona Chair, Barcelona Ottoman and Barcelona Coffee Table and Warren Platner Side Table.
Truly an oasis of calm sophistication in a frantic city!
